Sean Spicer to release book "The Briefing"

Image
Former White House press secretary Sean Spicer is releasing a book next summer. Spicer has signed a deal with Regnery Publishing, conservative book publisher.  His forthcoming book, titled "The Briefing," will focus on his "turbulent tenure" behind the lectern before resigning in July, according to the book's official description. The book promises to shed "new light on the headline-grabbing controversies of the Trump administration’s first year," the description states. Spicer worked as the communications director for the Republican National Committee before being named as now-President Donald Trump's press secretary during the transition. His tenure got off to a rocky start when he made his first appearance in the White House briefing room the day after Trump took office and read a statement to the press about the size of the crowd at the inauguration. His resignation came the day after the Trump administration marked it...

Trump deputy national security adviser to leave White House

Image
Dina Powell, deputy national security adviser to President Donald Trump, plans to leave the White House after the President's first year in office, multiple senior administration officials. Powell, a Cairo-born, Dallas-raised former executive at Goldman Sachs, first joined Trump's team after advising his daughter Ivanka on women's empowerment issues. She moved to the National Security Council in March. Powell, the officials told CNN, is leaving the administration on good terms with the President, unlike other officials who have either resigned or been fired. She decided to leave the job after a year. Powell's departure could be the first of many to come. Officials have long expected that some Trump aides will leave the White House in January, a year after the President took office. It is traditional for administrations to experience a spate of departures after the first year in office, but Trump's year has been particularly bruising, leaving so...

Delaware hit by 4.1-magnitude earthquake

A magnitude 4.1 earthquake hit Delaware on Thursday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. USGS says the quake struck at 4:45 p.m. ET and was centered about 6 miles east-northeast of Dover, Delaware. People from Baltimore, Boston, New York City, New Jersey and Philadelphia felt it. USGS says the quake was shallow only 5 miles deep which helps amplify its effect. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage after the jolt rattled the Mid-Atlantic region of the East Coast. The Associated Press writes that downtown Dover was in a flurry as lawmakers and workers in the statehouse went outside to see what happened. Police and emergency officials did not have any immediate reports of damage or injuries. "I live just a few miles south of Dover and my home rattled pretty good and I could hear the rumble as well," Dover Police Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said,  He added that everything seems to be running smoothly in Dover. Sgt. Rene Carberry a spoke...

White House Plans to Replace Tillerson by Pompeo

Image
The White House has developed a plan to force out Secretary of State Rex W. Tillerson, whose relationship with President Trump has been strained, and replace him with Mike Pompeo, the C.I.A. director, perhaps within the next several weeks, senior administration officials said on Thursday. Mr. Pompeo would be replaced at the C.I.A. by Senator Tom Cotton, a Republican from Arkansas who has been a key ally of the president on national security matters, according to the White House plan. Mr. Cotton has signalled that he would accept the job if offered, said the officials, who insisted on anonymity to discuss sensitive deliberations before decisions are announced. It was not immediately clear whether Mr. Trump has given final approval to the plan, but he has been said to have soured on Mr. Tillerson and in general is ready to make a change at the State Department. Mr. Tillerson was at the White House on Thursday morning, although he was not listed on ...
